Digital Images

During the last month I have experimented with digitally manipulating my acrylic abstract works. This has extended my body of work to not only feature large scale canvas works and small paper studies, but digital prints and eventually video footage of my processes. The untitled works underneath are the newest in this series of work.

Although the bulk of my work is abstract and messy and edible, I have a range of charcoal drawings which are mainly figures. A large large passion of mine is ballet and dance in general. Having not entered a ballet studio in years, I have been forced to give that side of me an outlet. Drawing dancers has been an amazing experience, in that making beautiful delicate lines with your body is such a surreal occassion that drawing somebody making those lines is kind of living vicariously through those images. Not only is drawing beautiful lines an experience in itself, but to know how it feels to make those lines with your body is double the expression. There is a larger body of work that connect with this particular drawing. All charcoal and all on paper. Also connected to these works are my life drawings, some of which deal with distortion, proportion and express a range of line and form. $200 Framed

Earlier this year I was able to focus on creating pure abstract works, which ended up being seperated into two bodies of work. One body dealt with colour field so featured paintings with a great deal of consideration of colour. The other body which I titled "White", had works which dealt with the subtle tonal differences of white and cream. Texture was a strong theme in both these body of works, yet in "White" it was particularly important to pay close attention to the role of texture because shadows were more prominent within the "White" works. The texture seemed to make up for the lack of the use of strong colour. $300

This work was exhibiting at the Propeller Art Prize this year. It is one of the first works in which I incorporated sugar. It is a highly mediated image, the end result is photocopy, ink, acrylic paint, glue and sugar on canvas. This work is quite typical in texture to most of my recent works yet the subject and process is quite different. Lately I have been working with pure abstraction, not working from photocopied images. There is a small series of works I have been developing from this work, adding colour slowly and experimenting with application techniques. $350
Welcome Again
I hope you enjoy my attempt to post some of latest works. Please let me know what you make of them and contact me with any inquiries or comments.
